Vesuvius, Naples – Featured Instagram
Today’s post features Instagrammer Flavio’s picture of Naples with the Vesuvius looming in the backdrop. According to National Geographic, Mount Vesuvius – “the world’s most dangerous volcano looms over the lives of three million people in southern Italy. An eruption in A.D. 79 buried the town of Pompeii (near the white spire, at center), but new research indicates the next blast could be much bigger.”
And yet when you look at this beautiful picture of the marina in Naples with Vesuvius in the background – beautifully captured by Flavio – you can hardly believe that such a serene and picturesque location could also be so dangerous.
